The movie is crazy and awesome.
One of my favorite films. Damn.

The only reason I don’t own OLDBOY on blu-ray is because I’ve got this guy right here. I don’t want to buy it again unless it has the same special features as this and/or new AWESOME features. Right now, there’s only one movie I am willing to buy on blu-ray and KEEP the DVD (until the original Star Wars trilogy comes out, that is)…
My favourite movie.
This scene makes my anus twitch.
I need three movie marathons in my immediate future:
- An Asian cinemathon (Oldboy, Audition, Battle Royale)
- Modern day crazy-ass throwbacks (Hobo With A Shotgun, Rubber, Human Centipede)
- Bad horror movies on Instant Watch
TOTALLY UNNECCESSARY.
Unnecessary-Remake News of the Day: It’s official: Mandate Pictures released a statement today confirming that Spike Lee will indeed be directing the studio’s remake of Park Chan-wook’s critically acclaimed adaptation of Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya’s manga series Old Boy.
“It’s a great honor to put this special project into the hands of such a gifted writer and iconic director,” “It’s a great honor to put this special project into the hands of such a gifted writer and iconic director,” Mandate President Nathan Kahane said in the statement.
A remake of the South Korean film has been in the works for a while, with various actors and directors — from Justin Lin to Steven Spielberg, and even Will Smith — attached at times.
[deadline.]
I always experience two sets of feelings when foreign films I love are Americanized:
- Oh, cool. Now more people will get to see this story.
- Why don’t the lazy bastards just rent the amazing original? “I don’t wanna read my movies.” Whine whine whine. You’re missing out, you baby.
Still, I have REALLY liked The Departed (Infernal Affairs) and Let Me In (Let The Right One In). In a capable director’s hands with a good adaptation, this could be okay. Spike Lee is a capable director. I’ll hope for the best.
But yeah. Tumblrverse. Rent OLDBOY. It’s unbelievable.
